White Island ~Camiguin

It was a sunny wednesday (I think.. Backpacking makes you lose track of days and dates..) when we left our homestay in camiguin and took a small boat about 1.5 kilometers out on the sea and stumbeled upon the White Island.

Ok, so what is this White Island thing? Simply just an unhabitated sandbar in the middle of the ocean. The beach/island doesn't have any trees or shelters or tourists. The lack of tourists is the amazing part. Everything is so incredibly cheap and everything feels so much more authentic. The lack of trees and shelter though... It didn't seem to be a problem until it really was a problem and both me and Mollie got burned like two lobster babies.

Yes, she's single.

The dark shade you see behind the sandbar is two of Camiguin's many volcanoes. Many times I just had to sit up and open my eyes and look around me. Like, am I really on a beach in the middle of the ocean with a view over volcanoes? No. Insane.

Funny thing with filipinos. They never go to the beach to tan (since they hate getting darker), or to read their books or sleep. No, they are simply not like us western people. Every five minutes I could look after my friends and find them at different places building different things in the sand or doing different activities. They are never just chilling in the sun. I wonder if they even like the sun and if they just went to the sandbar to make us happy.. I will never know, they are just too cute.

Before going on the boat we rented snorkel equipment which was good for me since I always get so restless. But actually, it wasn't a lot to see and the equipment was just leeking. If you go here, bring your own equipment or just forget about it. Go dive instead, so much more fun and worth it.

The whole dream team was pretty excited about White island. IT'S SUCH A PARADISE!! How can it not be discovered by tourists yet? Can we please come back tomorrow?

After 5 hours on the island and in the sun we went back home with the same boat that dropped us of. We payed 3 USD each to get to the island and if the pictures aren't convincing enough, it was SO sosososo worth it. I loved this place. But, we are probably not going back tomorrow since both Mollie and I burned our bodies off. Typical ignorant swedes that think we can tolerate more than we can. Anyway, now I'm going to convince my buddies to come with me to the checkpoint and have the Mangoshake of my life. Also for like 1 USD. Life guys. Life <3
