Getting to and diving in Camiguin ~Philippines

5 AM Kayes weird alarm signal went on and made us all pack our bags and get a tricycle to the terminal without uttering a word (or actually we sang pretty loud to One Direction in the tricycle). We said goodbye and thank you to Mami for all her nice food and hospitality because it was now time to leave Tandag and go to Camiguin. This is an island with more tourism than Tandag (it's hard to have less than Tandag...) full of volcanoes, hot springs, waterfalls, dive sites and just amazing nature.

To get to Camiguin from Tandag we first took a bus to Butuan city which was about 5 hours, then we changed to another bus to Balingoan which took us two hours. After this I was hungry and tired of traveling and thought we were done, but no. A ferry waited to take us to the island of Camiguin. Including the last tricycle ride that took us to our hostel we traveled for 11 hours to get to Camiguin, but just the view when we arrived to the island told me it was going to be worth it. We had our dinner for 0.5 USD (CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS???) and went to bed.

Our first day in Camiguin we decided to go diving since the rumors says there are about one gasilion of turtles around this island. We packed our bags went to the dive center and then took the boat 14 kilometers out to Mantigue island which also is a part of Camiguin.

Kaye and I dived and Mollie and Ian snorkeled. This was an activity no one of us could resist doing since two dives costed us 54 USD each, which is so cheap compared to the rest of the world and even to the rest of the Philippines.

After an hour of diving (or snorkeling) we got back to the boat and realized Mollie was missing. The one scared of water was missing, I felt so bad. I knew I shouldn't have left her alone in the sea. But, after some time one of the guides found her and together we ate some sugar bread and waited for our bodies to get ready for another dive.

Happy and tired girls after two hours of diving with 14 (!!) turtles, a huge sea snake (seriously Anaconda size) and so many colorful fishes that made me feel like I was inside an aquarium. It doesn't matter how many times I see these animals, I'm just as amazed every single time. You can call me turtle dork.

Diving in Camiguin is totally recommended by me. If not only because of the amazing dive sites with beautiful nature and animals, because of the price!! Camiguin is off the beaten tourist track and such a beautiful place, my friends. I can't wait to wake up tomorrow and hike next to volcanoes or swim in hot springs or eat dinner/lunch/breakfast for 0.5 USD. I can't wait.  PUSS!
