Tandag, Jacub ~ Philippines

Ok, this is going to be an angry post because I'm writing it for the second time. Somehow the first text I wrote got deleted. Also I woke up today with an eye inflammation so, I've been happier. Well, let's talk about a good day instead, a good day in Tandag when the rain was pouring down and we were all hungover from a karaoke night. After we had finished our rice breakfast (because all they eat here is rice) we jumped into a tricycle and went to Jacub with the rain smashing down like the best shower spray you can imagine. We were all soaked when we arrived to Jacub and the waterfall.

This slide may look innocent but hell you slide fast. I almost went off pist.

Everything is just so cheap here, my friends. If you compare to other places in the Philippines like Panglao or El Nido you will get a chock when you come to Tandag. Since there are no tourism the prices are real and there is noone who earns extra money on you just because you're a tourist. This can also have to do with the fact that we're traveling with our friends that are from here and they know eight away if we're getting fooled.

While we're on the economic topic I just want to talk about how priviliged it is to be from Sweden when it comes to this. This day Kaye explained to us that the maternity leave in the Philippines is only 2 months for the mother and ONE DAY for the father. Imagine one day. Like you litterally just understand what your baby looks like and then you have to go back to work. So different from Sweden. Another thing that is worth thinking about when we're complaining about our salery or lack of holiday weeks is that in the Philippines they only have 7 days of holiday every year and I, me Ida, earn as much as the president of the Philippines do per month. Like, how can I ever complain about my income again? What I earn in a day is one months salery for a middle class, educated person here in the Philippines.
Anyway, in Jacub we were almost alone and it was really nice to just dip your tired body into the fresh, noisy water. We swam in the waterfalls and even this time I just felt so naked wearing my bikini with all the filipinos around me swimming in their jeans shorts and t-shirts. When we finished our swim the rain actually stopped for 30 minutes and we could go back to the house, safe and sound. If you ever should be hungover, you should be it here.
