Cancún
After a never ending flight we arrived to Cancún, hungry and tired after being awake for nineteen hours. It was five ó clock in the afternoon but midnight for us. In a sort of zombie mode we got our luggage and made our way to the centre and our hostel Mexicasa to do the check in and go out for something to eat. Tacos, of course. Something that seems to be way more difficult to find vegetarian than I had thought (but not at all difficult to find otherwise). And vegan... Doesnt even exist in the vocabulary. We found something however and thinking the salsa verde was guacamole we then ruined them and ended up with the mouth on fire.
We woke up at five the next morning, ready to start the day before the sun was even up. The mission now was to explore the city and find somewhere to live. But that is a little diffucult at five in the morning. So after breakfast we took off to what is here called "The hotel area", and that is the fancy part of Cancun, the one you see in Google. A little piece of USA on the east edge of Mexico. There we walked around, took a drink and then we got on the bus to return to the centre and start getting useful.

Cancún used to be nothing really, but then on the 20 of april in the year 1970 it was founded as the new tourist resort of Mexico. It has since then grown fast because of it's all year round nice weather and the karribean sea that gives a nice touch. Search for a picture in Google and you see clear blue water and white beaches, but the majority of the best beaches are private and owned by the hotels. That makes a problem for backpackers like us whom end up in the beaches that are not at all like that picture on Google. But other than that the weak economy of Mexico makes it easy for tourists from Europe and North America to live cheap here. That's why we are here. But Cancun is more than its tourism. It is also a fast moving city with no places to cross the road what so ever and with a people so friendly it makes you suspicious.

The last two days have been all about trying to make out our plan here (so that's why my pictures don't really show the the real Cancún... or any Cancún at all really) and now we have decided to move on from Cancun and try our luck in Playa del Carmen, fourty minutes away. We will see how that works out. Smell you later.
